My wife, Dawn, is a massage and craniosacral therapist. Craniosacral therapy requires a deep sensitivity to “hear” what the patient’s body needs. That is, stillness and receptivity are foundational to these therapists. Actually, they are foundational to fulfilling any human’s potential but I digress.
Anyhow, Dawn is on a Facebook group for craniosacral workers and she shared with me a post from Tracy Zakoff that challenged the way I’ve been looking at the pandemic: ‘Curious who else here has tried to communicate with the virus. I have and my study partner has…very interesting what I feel and “hear.” . . . in deep prayer I was reminded “everything is of God” including this virus. That thought changed how I approached the virus. Only *we* know good and evil…. the virus has a job. Maybe we don’t like it, but its always better to communicate with adversaries vs challenge them.’
I was quite embarrassed to be reminded that “everything is of God”. Of course! I have had this experience multiple times yet am still working on making that awareness my baseline consciousness (if it was easy everyone would be doing it). Tracy’s post also led me to examine my own meditations over the past weeks. I had planned to pour a sweatlodge 10 days ago. The pandemic news was building as this date got closer. Five days out, my meditation indicated the ‘lodge was energetically solid and would be protected. The news got worse each day and I repeated my meditation around the ‘lodge. Now, the energy was uncertain and reserved. Perhaps fear, my own or from the Collective consciousness, polluted my clarity? Or was Spirit guiding me to cancel?
The disruption of “normal” life has spurred me to reflect ever deeper. My meditations have been more still, too. My dreams more profound, if not also more bizarre! I am called to look at fears that come, to stand in the feeling and release it. What about you? How has your life changed? Are you reflecting on your priorities, the things you are building in life? Are you making connections with family and friends? Do you remember to give gratitude for the embrace of a loved one, a warm shower, a delicious meal?
I have been leaning into the energy of these times. On the one hand, I have been reading extensively from various news sources, especially epidemiologists and medical experts. And with the complete and near total failure of political leaders left, center, and right, I’m turning off the news.

I’ve also read other accounts that share an entirely different perspective (see, for example, A Message from the Coronavirus and Humanity’s Awakening with the Corona Virus and What Psychedelics Told Me About The Coronavirus; BTW, several craniosacral therapists on the Facebook thread echoed the sentiments in these linked articles). But mostly I’ve been relying on the stillness within myself. Your highest Authority rests within your own Heart! Outside sources might point the way, but you must let these go. The truth you seek is within you. If you are a practiced meditator, regardless of style, you know this place. Is your ego there? Your fear? Your judgements? Your beliefs and doubts? No! None of that is at your Heart! Ultimately, this is the target of the questing pathway. We seek to know Vision and manifest it on this Earth. We touch our true Essence and move beyond our fear and smallness. We anchor purpose beyond self into our communities. We bring the Sacred to this Earth.
The times call for us to be open and flexible to new ways of thinking and feeling. Our habit of being committed to “being right” no longer serves us. Perhaps you are ready to let go of the beliefs and judgements that block your path, that keep you locked in self-doubt. Again, let go of the things no longer needed and relax into Stillness and Truth. Walk in the solitude of nature. Meditate. Take a Quest. There are thousands of ways to cultivate the Sacred. Why are you waiting?
Be still, and know that I am God . . . Psalm 46:10
I’m closing this post with a contribution from Linda Bradak who is a craniosacral therapist, just a coincidence I’m sure! LOL
Yes, we human beings are up for this challenge. The model for facing fear is hard-wired into us. Look at any toddler, out with mom or dad. Suppose he or she sees a dog ahead and is afraid. The kid clutches the back of the parent’s knees with both hands and won’t look at the perceived threat. If the parent reassures, the kid sneaks a peek, then ducks back to safety. Again, if the parent reassures, next comes a longer peek, then the duck back to safety. Eventually one hand comes off, accompanied by a still longer peek. Finally, both hands release and the child will look at the dog from beside mom or dad.
Anything we can face, we can handle. HOW to do that is already evolved in our nervous systems: From a place of safety, keep sneaking peeks at whatever is scary, returning again and again to safety until the previously threatening thing has been reduced from danger to manageable, over and over.
We innately know how to do this. As we return again and again to safety, our Inner Trust fund grows — and we are truly RICH.
Addendum: Rudolf Steiner poem/prayer suggested by Linda Bradak:
We must eradicate from the soul
All fear and terror of what comes towards man out of the future.
We must acquire serenity
In all feelings and sensations about the future.
We must look forward with absolute equanimity
To everything that may come.
And we must think only that whatever comes
Is given to us by a world-directive full of wisdom.
It is part of what we must learn in this age,
namely, to live out of pure trust,
Without any security in existence.
Trust in the ever present help
Of the spiritual world.
Truly, nothing else will do
If our courage is not to fail us.
And let us seek the awakening from within ourselves
Every morning and every evening.
